This week we made yummy Easter nest cakes. The children in 1P are very good at stirring the mixture and we practiced weighing ingredients which fitted in well with our maths topic on mass. Can't wait to taste one :-)
World Book Day~ 5.3.21
1P completely transformed themselves and became their favourite book characters! We also had a whole day of book challenges, here are some snippets...
WB 1.3.21~ Science week
This week has been amazing! I have loved seeing all of the science experiments you have conducted at home and hearing the gasps on the videos you have created. Well done to you all- here are some of the highlights :-)
The weather has certainly improved this week and we have even had a little bit of sunshine. This week we have begun our new topic- Going Underground. The children in 1P have drawn some fabulous pictures of what they think is underground; I'm hopeful for treasure too! We have also been measuring ourselves and comparing our height to things around our home using mathematical language such as 'taller' and 'shorter'.Here are some highlights of the week...
This week has been snowy and cold but we have had some exceptional work from the children in 1P... here are just a few of the highlights!
If we could describe this week in just a few words I think it would be fair to say that some of the words would be... challenging, unpredictable and mixed. Everyone is working very hard and it's hard to keep the same momentum. Rightly so, many have prioritised well-being and so I've been lucky enough to see a whole range of work which had made me an exceptionally proud teacher; it just shows how resilient we are. Well done 1P, remember it's another step closer to us all being together again.
It's been another busy week of home-learning and 1P are smashing it! This week we have conducted colour mixing experiments and some of the children have even tried other experiments too. We have read in unusual places and to our pets, baked cakes, made natural art, made models, been orienteering, grown crystals, written instructions, been on wet walks, and even completed a quick maths assessment! I couldn't ask for any more than that- you're all superstars!
Remote Learning WB 11.1.21
This week 1P have been exceptionally busy! We have seen a whole range of superb work and I have been most impressed by your instruction writing. Well done everyone, keep sending me your photos via Tapestry.
Remote Learning- WB 4.1.21
I have loved seeing all of your work on Tapestry this week... here are some highlights but there are so many and you all deserve a massive pat on the back!
I have been particularly impressed with your 'Wanted' Posters and the effort you have put into writing CVC and CVCC words. Well done to you all!
The Polar Express- WB 14.12.20
We have had a whole week themed around The Polar Express. This has all led to a fantastic Polar Express party where we all got to wear pyjamas for the day! We also had 'hot' chocolate (milkshake) on board the train, met a few cheeky elves and had our tickets punched by a very strange looking conductor. We decorated biscuits and munched them all the way to the North Pole. The children's highlight was the wonderful party lunch and playing lots of Party Games. Have a wonderful Christmas and we look forward to seeing you in the new year!
The Nativity Story
We have been acting and sequencing the Christmas story and discussing the importance of the first Christmas all of those years ago.
The 'Teen' Numbers
We have been learning how to break a teen number into a ten and ones.
We decided to make our window a Seasonal Window, and this season we have made Poppies to pay a fitting tribute for Remembrance day. We also discussed why we wear a Poppy, and have painted some for our classroom and homes too.
Children In Need~ 13.11.20
To celebrate Children In Need we completed some 'Act your age' challenges. The first was to walk around the playground 5 or 6 times; we were very hungry afterwards and needed snack straight away!
We then made some Pudsey ears demonstrating fantastic cutting skills plus good listening to the instructions.
Our next challenge was to score 5 or 6 penalties against Mrs Pasquale; it's fair to say that the Lionesses won't be signing Mrs Pasquale any time soon as 1P are all fantastic footballers.
We then exercised for 6 minutes, completing stretches and aerobic exercises; by this point we were definitely ready for lunch!
After lunch we read our book for 5 or 6 minutes and then had some fun making Pudsey pictures. Our final challenge was to be dressed in Non-uniform which we all did!
Well done 1P, great work for a fantastic charity- Remember to donate!
